As part of this project we are exploring the history of Vaughan Rd. There is an urban legend, occasionally referenced that the route Vaughan Rd follows was once part of a network of Indigenous trail routes. On July 7th, we are speaking with Young Spiritual Elder, Indigenous artist, activist, educator, historian, and Ancestral Knowledge Keeper Philip Cote, of Moose Deer Point First Nation, to look into this legend and tell us a little more about this land.

To guide the journey through the Roots and Routes Discovery Trail, there is a map and a series of posters in storefront windows with information and clues on how to find our neighbourhood gems.  There is also a colouring page that people can print from home or use to inspire their own drawings, which the BIA will be happy to display.

Our Map and Colouring Page are available to download and print here.  There are also copies of the map available at several local businesses.
